Facilities Available
Jamia Islamia Madinatul Uloom is one of the largest Residential Madrasah of West Bengal for boys. It is of University level and only of that type in Eastern India.
Roll strength of the institution is round about 1295 and out of them 25% are orphans. Teaching Staff at present is stands at 53 with another 48 heads of Non-teaching Staff. Annual expenses of the institution is more than Rs. 1 Crore 20 lac ( US $ 2,50,000). Due to usual market inflation it may further increase. Number of students is also increasing every year.
Curriculum is up to Master Degree level with Daura-E-Hadith starting from post primary level including all related courses of Talqeen, Tahfeez, Tajweed, Fazil, Takmeel Ifta, Takmeel Adab (Arabic), Takmeel Ifta, Takmeel Tajweed. Training for the Teachers and Imams of the Masjid are given as a diploma course. Besides, Vocational Instructions include Designing and Dress Making, Watch Making & Repairing, Jewelry Designing, Making & Setting, A. C. and Refrigerator repairing, Electrical Motor Winding & repairing etc. Latest facility in Computer Training and Internet Communication is the other most time-needed extra curricular facility that the Institution offers is worth mentioning.
There are near about 1075 affiliated primary institutions under the Jamia and more than 48 300 students are getting primary education under the network of Jamia. The Main Campus at Memari offers free instructions along with free lodging. By the grace of Almighty Allah, we have been also providing prime meals & breakfast (nashta) to the students as well as to the teaching and non-teaching staff completely free of cost. Tahfeez students are given milk daily in the evening.
To reach out to the human souls in need we have already started a welfare wing of our Institution. Jamia provides Ambulance and Charitable Clinic service for the students and their families at the locality and also the ill poor persons of the area. Presently the Ambulance is carrying average 25 patients in every month. In spite of our financial restrain and limitation we could, by the grace of Allah reach out to the flood (Aila) stricken people of our province with necessary relief-materials like tarpaulin, plastic sheets, dry food, baby food and medicines along with doctors and volunteers to help these hapless people in the hours of grief and suffering. We made four camps and supplied ready food twice daily for long two months for five hundred people in each camp. Our selfless relief, help and assistance earned the praise and admiration of the public as well as of the administration. Our relief and assistance especially to the "Purdanasheen" women, to their children as well as to the physically handicapped persons who could not go to the relief camps, drew special attention of all.
The Jamia has already started organizing and holding "Blood Donation Camps" & "Health check up Camps". Recently in a special blood donation camp more than 110 people, mostly the students and the staff including a few local persons donated blood for the noble cause.
The entire show runs on donations and contributions of generous persons of our country. The noble people of the locality are contributing regularly the crops and cash for the students of the Jamia.
Prize distribution to the academic position holders and for games and sports at Annual functions is a routine schedule of the Jamia. In this occasion prominent educationists from all over the country contributed their valuable times with the students of Jamia, Students and teachers actively taken part in the blood donation camps held every year; they donate blood for the thalassemia patients and Blood Bank of Burdwan Medical College Hospital. They have also taken part in the pulse polio program, health awareness program immunization program, relief works etc.
Library
A good library cum Reading Room has been provided within the campus which consists of 6000 valuable and rare old books, reference books, manuscripts, periodicals and audio cassettes. The Grand Masjid is used as another reading hall with uninterrupted electrical services.
Computer
Latest facility in Computer Training and Internet Communication is the other most time-needed extra curricular facility that the Institution offers is worth mentioning.
Health Care
Jamia provides Ambulance and Charitable Clinic service within the campus for the students and as well as their family members at the locality and also the ill poor persons of the area. Health awareness programs are also held by the physicians and paramedical experts.
Convocation
Convocations along with the re-union generally take place after three or four years in the Jamia Campus. Distinguished personalities and eminent scholars are invited from India and abroad.
Seminar
Seminars are frequently organized by the Jamia authority for the benefit and the modern exposure of the students as well as the teachers. Topics are chosen from the current affairs, burning issues of the community, problems of the environment, health care etc.
